Why have a 1992 Viper in a private collection? Imagine being able to go back in time to 1953 when Chevrolet delivered the first of 300 Corvette's to the public? Or 1962 when Carroll Shelby sold the first of his AC Cobra's. The 1992 Dodge Viper will be remembered years from now in the same manner as those two previous automotive icons.
People often ask me why I collect Vipers and in fact give me a lot of grief over it. I tell them first of all buy and collect what you like not what you think is a good investment since I tend to think a good investment starts with real estate and not a car? Secondly I tell them that when the first handbuilt Viper was sold to the public in 1992 it had a fabric leaky top, no exterior door handles, no roll up windows and no a/c. Just like the handbuilt sports car icons of the past such as Ferrari and Mercedes. Yet Dodge led by Bob Lutz built a modern day Cobra for our generation. Pretty amazing the car was ever built at all?
Only 285 vipers were built in 1992 the first year of Viper production. And the first year of production at the New Mack assembly plant. 200 cars were allocated for the U.S. market. The rest went to international markets.
All cars were built in the same color combination red/grey.
This viper #135 was built on July 28,1992 and still has the window sticker on it and has traveled 471 miles since 1992. We have every book and record including the original ultra rare leather valise.
This is number 135 out of 200 and it is as new. One of the lowest mile 1992 first year Vipers in the country with a completely unbroken verifiable chain of previous owners.
After leaving the factory #135 was delivered to Tamaroff Dodge in Southfield Michigan where it was sold still on it's original MSO to O'Brien Motors in Orlando Florida in October of 1993. On October 22,1993 it was sold from it's MSO to a gentleman in Englewood Florida with 91 miles showing on the odometer and was titled for the first time. That owner kept it until October 16,1998 until he sold it to H&H Corvette of Fern Park Florida with 436 miles showing on the odometer who sold it five days later to The Nelson auto Group with the same mileage where it was made part of Greg Nelson's fabulous Viper collection. Greg Nelson owned # 135 until April 14, 2004 when he sold it to us with 464 miles. We have complete ownership documentation including previous titles, odometer statements and sales invoices back to new including copies of the original MSO.
Not for sale.
