This amazing Camaro was part of the Christenholtz collection and was brought to our attention by noted collector/author Colin Comer who was able to obtain it for us prior to the Christenholtz collection being publicly sold at auction. One of the most original and documented 1969 Yenko Camaro's in existence with 25,000 original miles, original paint(as verified by our paint gauge and all the previous owners including the original owner), original interior and the original engine and drivetrain.
In 1969 Yenko Chevrolet produced 198 Yenko Camaro's. 170 four speed cars and 28 automatic's. This Yenko is a four speed car in Lemans blue. All 69 Yenko's were equpped with the L-72 427 cubic inch motor rated conservatively at 425 HP.
We are the sixth owners of this fabulous car which is well known in the Yenko community and has one the best ownership trails of any Yenko in the world. Some of the original paperwork acquired with the car includes its original retail installment contract, original application for certificate of title, original owner protecto plate, original Chevrolet warranty protection booklet, original state bureau of motor vehicle reciept, original dealer owners folio, original state inspection reciepts, copies of titles from previous owners, original Cheverolet campaign claim form, the original owners manual and a copy of the original bill of lading from Yenko to the Indiana dealership where it was sold new.
We were recently able to locate and speak with the original owner who was kind enough to send us all his old original photo's including some black and white photos from the day he drove it home new from the dealership. Take note of the second picture in our gallery and note the date on the tires written in chalk from the factory, this photo was taken about a week after purchase. Chevy guru's would be correct if they noticed that the tires were not original to that Camaro. The day the original owner bought the car he had the tires taken from a Yenko Chevelle which had been delivered from Yenko with his Camaro and had his Camaro tires put on the Chevelle. In fact the original tires and wheels from that picture are still with the car since the original owner removed them and stored them and drove on MT tires and Crager mags.
Not surprisingly the media has taken notice of a muscle car of this rarity and historical automotive significance and the Yenko has been featured in "Muscle America's Legendary Performance Cars" Authored by Randy Leffingwell and David Newhardt, as well as magazines including a six page color feature in a cars and parts magazine.
More pictures to follow. Never going to be for sale.
